Here is a 2 min read to learn how to hide parameters in BI Publisher report.
Why Hide Parameter(s)
Let’s first try to undresand the need to hide parameters. One of the obvious question is if it is a parameter, don’t you want to show it to the user? Well, let me explain!!
Imagine a use case where you are drilling down from a summary report in BI Publisher report to a detailed report in BI Publisher. And you are passing certain ID parameters like Vendor Id, Invoice Id from the summary report to the detailed report. In this case when the detail report executes, the parameters will be shown to the user. And which user likes to see ID values. They would rather see the Invoice Number and Vendor Name, instead of Invocie Id and Vendor Id.
In the above use case, what we can do is to define the parameters in the data model, and hide the paraemters in the report. This way we can still use this in the where clause in the data set query. And the user doesn’t have to see the ID values.
If this is not clear, do reach out to me and I am happy to explain more!!
