I had the opportunity to try out ODA for EPM and it looks great. Here is how to get started. Thanks to Mike Casey, Pat Malay and Joe Huang for the wonderful session.

The ODA for EPM is available for FCCS and ARCS currently. ODA will be available for other EPM offerings in the future.

First things first, you need access to an ODA Instance. Once you login, navigate to the Development > Store.

There is a new version of EPM Automate as part of 21.05 update. The update is available in your EPM TEST instances.

Make sure to upgrade EPM Automate to the latest version. Lets take a look at some of the new features.

I am really excited about this one. You can now use shortened URLs in the login command.

Earlier you had to provide the complete URL to the EPM instance while using the “epmautomate login” command.

epmautomate login <username> <password>

As part of the 21.05 update, you have the option of shortening the URL using bitly, tinyurl or…

Oracle provides web services to invoke and retrieve data from OTBI (Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence) Analysis. Let’s see how in this post.

For a complete list of available web services check out Oracle documentation. We will be focusing on two services and 3 methods.

Let’s first login and create a session. Use the below code snippet and provide the correct user name and password.

Web Services URL to be used — https://hostname/analytics-ws/saw.dll?SoapImpl=nQSessionService

The return message will have session id field. The session Id will be passed in the executeXMLQuery method call.

You should have the path to the…

With the release of EPM 21.04 version update you can now send custom emails from EPM using EPM Automate or EPM REST APIs. You can read more about the new release in Mark Rinaldi’s update.

Make sure to upgrade to the latest version of EPM Automate.

With EPM automate you can use the “sendMail” command to

  • Email one or more recipients
  • Include custom Subject and Body
  • Include attachments (files from EPM)

Without Attachments

epmautomate login username password url
epmautomate sendMail "Data Load Finished" Body="Data Load Finished at 9 AM EST"

With Attachments

epmautomate login username password url
epmautomate sendMail…

In this article lets see the different ways we can load data into Transaction Matching module in Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud Service (ARCS). Click here to know more about Oracle ARCS and feel free to connect with me if you have questions on implementing Transaction Matching in Oracle ARCS.

So what are the 4 different ways and let’s take a look at each one in detail.

  1. Manual Load
  2. Data Management
  3. EPM Automate
  4. REST APIs

If you have a pre-formatted file then navigate to “Application > Jobs > Transaction Matching”. Click on Actions > Import Transactions. …

In this post let’s try to understand the Transaction Matching module data model. Unlike other Oracle EPM products, ARCS (Account Reconciliation Cloud Service) uses relational database. So we have tables and views and it is pretty easy to create custom reports using BI Publisher. This opens up lot of possibilities. If you are interested to learn more about creating custom reports in ARCS, check out my YouTube tutorial series.

For most updated list of tables and views, you can check out the Oracle Documentation here.

There are 19 pre-defined tables at the time of writing this blog. Here are a…

In a previous article I wrote about how you can invoke an Oracle BI Report using ExternalReportWSSService Web Service. You may read it here.

In the article I have an example of a BI Report with a single parameter. I had a very interesting question from a reader asking about how we pass parameter values if there are more than one report parameter. So here it is.

Access to Oracle BI Server

  • Create a BI Report Data Model (xdm) and Report (xdo)
  • Create a PowerShell script to invoke the ExternalReportWSSService web service

The only difference between various scenarios is the…

In this post we will understand how to import Balances into Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud using EPM Automate. To learn more about Oracle ARCS head over to Oracle Documentation.

  • Access to Oracle ARCS
  • EPM Automate has been installed
  • Basic understanding of EPM Automate and ARCS

There are two ways to import balances (Source and Sub System) data into ARCS. Those are using Pre-Mapped Balances and using Data Management.

Loading Pre Mapped Balances
The data file is formatted in a specific format and is ready to be consumed by ARCS. The file has to be comma delimited or tab delimited file. The…

I am starting a new video series on YouTube, focusing on OTBI (Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence) for beginners. I am hoping this will help anyone who is getting started on Oracle Cloud and wants to learn about creating repors and analysis.

The first eight videos are live. I will update this story with links to videos as and when I publish them.

Using BI Composer

The first two videos focus on using BI composer to create and edit an analysis.

In the first video, we learn how to create an analysis using BI composer. We will be using Payables Invoices Transactions — Real…

In this post we will look at the User Management REST APIs available in Oracle Cloud ERP. You can read more about the REST APIs here. There are 6 main REST APIs:

  • Create User
  • Delete User
  • Get User
  • Get All Users
  • Replace User
  • Update User

We will explore how to create, update and delete a user, and to fetch information of all the existing users. I will be using Python and requests library to invoke the REST APIs. You can get the source code from my GitHub repo.

The API End Point is as follows. Make sure to provide the…
